Kobe Bryant has better total stats than Jordan at age 29 so Kobe is better?

I saw some genius say Kobe was better because his stats are better at age 29 than MJ's. No (explicative), I guess so! Kobe will be lucky to finish anywhere close to Jordan. I think Kobe is in his 12th season and MJ played 15. Kobe will have to score 50 ppg for the next three seasons to get anywhere close. I don't even have to get into steals and FG%, because Kobe can't touch him. Jordan shot almost 50% from the field in his career, even with that Washington crap he pulled.

I don't even like Jordan but what the hell? What the hell are these people on to make them say such things? Let's not even get into the rings.

I think people just have trouble letting go of the fact that jordan is the best, they don't want to admit another has come.

I don't like to compare too much, even though i sometimes do it. I think its best to compare this stuff at the end of their careers when we can look at everything they've done
I don't care what Kobe has done, is doing right now or will do in the future. He will never be as great as Jordan. Jordan transcended the game. Kobe is just another selfish, @sshole punk. He's a great player, don't get me wrong, but Jordan is, and always will be, the greatest of all time.

I think JoJo nailed it on the head. Kobe's biggest problem has ALWAYS been his maturity level and teamwork. This season is the first time he has actually grown up. It just took a couple of seasons of trying to do it alone for him to figure it out. 12 to be specific but too bad his career is about 2/3 over. He will never sniff Jordan's career accomplishments.
Make no mistakes about it Dear Buddy! Mr and Mrs Bryants son (KOBE) is as good as advertised and then some. But to compare the 2 is really unfair because we don't truly know exactly what Kobe's career will end like. And to try and put Mr. Lebron James ahead of Kobe is nuts too me considering just how many rings Lebron has. Oh! remember this too? AI and Kobe came to the league in the same year and AI got rookie of the year, Led the league in scoring afew years and we labeled him the answer, But in the end Kobe has shredded all doubters and has been nothing but a top notch player for his whole career, so next time you hear the haters, please remind them too look and Kobe's basketball past and start believing!

you are 100% right. people look at stats and think that translates to being a legendary player. hey karl malone scored more points than either guy but is anyone putting him in this discussion? of course not. kobe is a great player, probably one of the best if not the best in the league right now. but on those 3 championship teams he was pippen to shaq's jordan. kobe wouldnt have gotten anywhere close without a dominant shaq changing the game. his stats without shaq, when he was a better and more complete player prove that. and if he doesnt win it all this year, that will be a further indictment of his status because he wont be able to say he wasnt surrounded by great players.

those who say things like kobe is the best ever are usually pretty young and not very knowledgeable about basketball. amongst people who are knowledgeable about basketball the debate is usally jordan vs bill russell or magic or bird. kobe doesnt even register.

dude. jordan is always better. he's world known, got his own corporation, and he didin't cheat on his wife by having sex with some random lady in a hotel.
I think Kobe has the skill level to be as good as Jordan but the fact he didn't go tocollegeand went straight into the nba out of high school really hurt his potential. He never had the chance to learn teamwork or even understand that he is part of a team. In high school as the star player you are depended on to carry the team and be a ball hogging super star but that doesn't work when you're playing with the big boys. I'm not bashing Kobe, I think he's great but I think he missed a lot of the fundamental value of the game by not benefiting from the coaching and discipline a young player receives at thecollegelevel.
